NOTE - We have now sold this cottage in the Dordogne to good friends - Rae-Helen and Neil Fisenden from Perth, WA. fisenden@iinet.net.au Telephone 08 - 9221 - 1815 Rae-Helen and Neil have stayed at this cottage many times and wish to continue renting as we do, so they are taking over all of our bookings. They have kept our excellent managers, so we intend to continue working in conjunction with them and to keep our business as 'Six Cottages in France". People are able to book either through us as normal, or directly with the Fisendens themselves. We will keep updating the availability for all six cottages on our web site. This exciting section of the Dordogne region is known as the Périgord Noir, right in the middle of all of the châteaux and close to Domme, Beynac, La Roque Gageac and Les Eyzies. With beautifully restored stone villages and dramatically sited castles and bastides, the whole area is steeped in history from the 100 Years War, and also of pre-history with Les Eyzies being an important centre of caves and cave drawings. This is the country of châteaux; mediaeval English and French castles glaring at one another across the river; truffles, ducks, geese and foie-gras; Bordeaux and Bergerac wines; canoeing down the River Dordogne and passing four châteaux within two kms.Free WiFi at this cottage !
The village of Berbiguières is situated right in the heart of the Périgord Noir. In this region it is really important to stay in the right part - very close to the River Dordogne where all the chateaux are situated. The area shown in this map is by far the best section to stay.
